Hey Everyone,

My name's Aliya. I own and write this newsletter — but you already knew that.

Allow me to reintroduce myself.

Over the past few weeks, I've made some changes, both personal and in my business. I wouldn't call it a pivot so much as a return to being more authentically me.

When I started The Weight of Words, my intention was to explore how language shapes the messages we encounter every day. I'm genuinely fascinated by what advertising has done to us culturally, throughout the years — the good, the not so good, and everything in between.

But I tried to show up polished. Controlled. Professional. And within just a few weeks, it started to feel like dry toast without a glass of water in sight.

I was hiding from the humanness of it, the curiosity, the opinions, the parts of me that actually make this worth reading. If you've ever visited Behind the Algorithm, you know I don't hide there. This newsletter deserves the same.

So I still want to dig into how we use words to uplift, to manipulate, to sell, to connect. I still want to show you how I think. I just want to do it as myself.

Welcome to the new (and honestly, more honest) Weight of Words. No artificial coloring. Just your mid-week marketing munchies — and I hope they hit the spot.

Till next Wednesday,

~Aliya
